we can clearly see 5 double bonds thus leading to 5 σ 5 \sigma and 5 π 5 \pi bonds

and 14 single bonds thus leading to 14 σ \sigma bonds.

Hence, difference in sigma and pi bonds in naphthalene is 14 + 5 5 14 +5 - 5 = 14 = \boxed{14}
