Number Puzzle #1

Logic Level 3

Using only + , , × , ÷ , +, -, \times, \div, and parentheses and the following numbers: 100, 50, 10, 10, 4, 2. Solve for 511 without redundantly using operators and numbers (i.e using 4-2 to express 2, or 10+4-10 to express 4). Sum the numbers used and add the total number of operators (not parentheses) used for your answer. Solve using each number once unless it is given twice (in this case, 10 can be used twice, while the rest can only be used once).

The answer is 176.

Check for multiples of 511, ((100+2)*50+10)/10

This is wrong, because the solution could just as easily be ((100+ 4-2 )*50+10)/10
