The numbers are 22 and 20.

sq(n+2) - sq(n) = 84 => 4 + 4n = 84 giving n = 20. Numbers are 20, 22

The sum of 2 consecutive even nos. must be even eliminating the odd options. Then the sum of 2 consecutive even nos. must not be divisible by 4 eliminating 36. Ans : 42
