S = age of Sonal at present
R = age of Raj at present
R S = 3 2 ⟹ 3 S = 2 R ( 1 )
S + R = 2 0 ⟹ S = 2 0 − R ( 2 )
Substitute ( 2 ) in ( 1 ) ,
3 ( 2 0 − R ) = 2 R ⟹ 6 0 − 3 R = 2 R ⟹ 6 0 = 5 R ⟹ R = 1 2
It follows that S = 2 0 − 1 2 = 8
The difference of their ages 12 years from now is equal to the difference of their ages at present. So the desired answer is 1 2 − 8 = 4
