There is a triangle A B C ABC . Side B C BC is produced to point D such that the ratio of B C BC and C D CD is 5 : 3 5:3 .

If A B D = 40 ABD = 40 , find A B C A C D ABC - ACD .

let BC be 5x , therefore CD will be 3x , hence BD is 8x. as height is same all three triangles , therefore A[ABC]/A[ABD]=BC/BD so, BC/BD=5/8=y/40,therefore,y=25,nowsimilarly CD/BD=3/8=z/40,z=15 therefore,ABC-ACD=10
