On the occasion of Dussehra

While celebrating Dussehra, one of my friends was throwing an arrow with fire at Raavan of 3 m height from a distance of 10 m. What is the minimum velocity with which he can shoot the arrow so that raavan gets burn?

Assume fire gets out if arrow hits ground before reaching Raavan!

The answer is 10.

For minimum v, the range should be minimum, which can be 10 here. Also theta should be 45 degree as u 2 s i n 2 θ / g = 10 u^{2}sin2 \theta /g=10 , so u=10..

this comes under which chapter projectile

Well another formula for calculating minimum velocity is g R \sqrt{gR} keeping in mind that θ = 4 5 . \theta=45^\circ.
So,minimum velocity = 10 × 10 = 10 . =\sqrt{10\times10}=\boxed{10}.
Note that the height of the raavan is just given to confuse.

You have to prove it why height is not required

bcoz the minimum distance the arrow can travel for minimum velocity is to touch his toes and must be thrown at 45 degree angle.the fire will then spread all over his body.
