Unit digit Sequence of 3^n is: 3,9,7,1... that is repeated as a cycle 4. So the unit digit of 3^23 can be calculated is as, 23%4=3 that is 7.

Again for the unit digit sequence of 2^n is: 2,4,8,6... that is repeated as a cycle 4. So the unit digit of 2^18 is = 18%4=2 that is 4.

So the unit digit of 3^23 - 2^18 = 7 - 4 = 3
