Over or Under Determined?

Geometry Level 4

If U S = 5 \overline{US}=5 and U R = 4 \overline{UR}=4 , find R |R|

Details and assumptions:

R |R| means the magnitude of point R R from the origin.

(You really don't need to read everything below, it's simply a clarification of the diagram above).

Note: ignore points C and D on the diagram, they're incorrectly labeled.

Two different parallel lines A A and B B are drawn with the same slope m m such that m m is a positive integer, line A A intersects the origin, and line A A intersects the y-axis above line B B .

A third line C C is drawn with slope n n such that 0 < n < m 0<n<m , it intersects line B B at point S S with coordinates ( j , k ) (j,k) , and it also intersects the origin.

K, at this point you should probably just look at the diagram, but feel free to keep reading.

A forth line D D is drawn with slope p p such that p < 0 p<0 , it intersects line A A at point T T with coordinates ( g , h ) (g,h) such that g < j g<j and h < k h<k , it intersects line C C at point R R , and it has the same x intercept as line B B .

A fifth line E E is drawn parallel to the x-axis such that point T T lies on this line and line E E intersects line C C at point U U .

The answer is 6.
