p-n-p transistor and Resistance

The above is the circuit diagram of a p-n-p type transistor linked with power equipment, resistance R R , and switches S 1 , S 2 S_1, S_2 and S 3 S_3 . Which of the following statements are correct?

a) If switches S 1 S_1 and S 3 S_3 are closed and S 2 S_2 is open, then the electricity flows into resistance R R .

b) If switch S 1 S_1 is open and S 2 S_2 and S 3 S_3 are closed, then the electricity flows into resistance R R .

c) If all 3 3 switches S 1 , S 2 S_1, S_2 and S 3 S_3 are closed, then the electricity flowing into the collector ( V C V_C ) is larger than the electricity flowing into the base ( V B V_B ).

a) and c) c) a), b) and c) a)

The Main Logic behind this problem is that one needs to know how transistor works. If one reads carefully, he will know that all three connections are essential for the working of the transistor. So, options (a), (b) are eliminated, also base current is always smaller than collector current, so option (c) is correct.

one thing i need to say that is in case 2 ) :_ very low current will flow in the resistor R because of the minority charge carriers....

What on Earth!! I clicked on C and it showed that i clicked on A. I have had many issues while using Brilliant on my iPad. :/

Maybe you're using the Brilliant app like me. There are many such type of bugs which is to be Fixed must

One must be familiar with the biasing of transistor, else you'll get confused why is goes that way, since if it is change to NPN transistor, there will be no current. For A, s1 and s3 closed, leaving the base open, then Ic = Icbo , then electricity flows into resistance R. For C, s1, s2 and s3 closed, therefore Ie=Ic+Ib, transistor is working on operating region.

but there is a small amount of curent in reverse bias also

Yeah! But if anything is not stated, we assume it to be an ideal diode that conducts electricity only in the forward bias condition
