Pair of socks

Suppose there are 6 6 pairs of blue socks all alike, and 6 6 pairs of black socks all alike, scrambled in a drawer. How many socks must be drawn out, all at once (without looking at the drawer), to be certain of getting a matching pair?

The answer is 3.

1 solution

At most 3 3 socks must be drawn out. Because if only 2 2 socks, sometimes it is not a pair.
