There are two possible values of R ,either a 1 or 2. If we choose 1, we can possibly inspect that the 1st digit of the product is 1 which is not divisible by 4. So, we can only choose R=2 . Then after that, S=8 .

Likewise, A should be either 1 & 2, If we choose A=1 then it follows T=7 which complete the scenario.

Therefore R A T S = 2178 RATS=2178 R + A + T + S = 18 \boxed{R+A+T+S=18}
