Particle in a shell

A particle is given an initial speed u u inside a smooth spherical shell of radius R R so that it is just able to complete the circle. Find the acceleration of the particle, when its velocity is vertical \text{velocity is vertical}

Clarification- take g = 9.8 m / s 2 g=9.8~m/s^2

The answer is 30.968.

1 solution

For the block to complete the round. there's required a centrepretal force equal to it's weight. So we get minimum velocity required to comm[lete round v=(5gr)^1\2 . then by work energy theorem we get v at position where it's velocity is vertical. And finally a vector addition of gravity and acceleration of the block
