Remove the smallest square and the remaining image will be the next. So on the 4th image, if you remove the white square, you will have the black square as the only one remaining. So the answer must be D D .

The series is like in the first figure there is a black box.In the second figure that black box is changed to white and this white square is mixed with the white border behind the black square in the previous figure so this white box is bigger than the previous black box.Now this white box is changed to black colour and it mixes with the black border. Then again it is changed to white and finally to black. And a black square is left.

As the box decreases in size, the color of th square in the bottom right corner changes to the color of the the next closest piece of the pattern.

alternative blacks and white

Alternate removal of black and white stripes until no one is left, except the small square. the color of the small square would also change to the color of the stripe removed. The last stripe would be removed is black which would also change the small white square to black. therefore, the answer is 'D.'

I see the small square in the lower right toggling from black to white. I also see the number of "stripes" going from 4 to 3 to 2 to 1. Hence, the final would have 0 stripes and a black square.
