You can see that 1 +1 =2 , 2+2-4 , 4+3=7 , and 7+4=11. Therefore, it is logical the answer should be equal to 11+5=16.

I did it the same way.

You can see that 1 + 1 = 2 1+1=\color{#D61F06}{2} , 2 + 2 = 4 2+2=\color{#D61F06}{4} , 4 + 3 = 7 4+3=\color{#D61F06}{7} , and 7 + 4 = 11 7+\color{#D61F06}{4}=11 . Therefore, it is logical the answer should be equal to 11 + 5 = 16 11+\color{#69047E}{5}=16 .

The generating formula is: a n = n 2 n + 2 2 a_{n}=\frac{n^{2}-n+2}{2} .
