Solution: The pattern is +5 /2.

The pattern followed is

1 + 2 = 3 1+\color{#3D99F6}2\color{#333333}=3

3 + 1 = 4 3+\color{#3D99F6}1\color{#333333}=4

4 + 0.5 = 4.5 4+\color{#3D99F6}0.5\color{#333333}=4.5

Note that the number which we have to add is getting halved each time.

Therefore, following the same pattern , we do

4.5 + 0.5 2 = 4.75 4.5+\color{#3D99F6}\dfrac{0.5}{2}\color{#333333}=\boxed{4.75}
