Pencil Reflection #2

Classical Mechanics Level pending

A concave mirror is modeled by the left half of the ellipse ( x 10 ) 2 100 + y 2 25 = 1. \frac{(x-10)^2}{100}+\frac{y^2}{25}=1. If a pencil of length 6 is placed at a distance of 1.5 times the focal length from the mirror, at what x x -coordinate will an image form? By what degree m m will the pencil be magnified?

Note: The pencil is upright directly in front of the mirror.

x = 2 ; m = 2 x=2;m=2 x = 1.5 75 ; m = 2 x=1.5\sqrt{75};m=2 x = 3 75 ; m = 0.5 x=3\sqrt{75};m=0.5 x = 3 75 ; m = 2 x=3\sqrt{75};m=2
