Let the cost of Wheat be $100, then 25% of 100 is simply 25 100 × 100 = 25 \dfrac{25}{\bcancel{100}} \times\bcancel{100} = 25 . And because rice costs more than wheat by 25%, then the same unit of rice costs ($100) plus ($25) which is is equal to ($125).

Thus with the same measurements, we have $125 of rice and $100 of wheat.

And we want to find, for what percentage of 125 equals to 100? Let x x denote this value, by setting up the equation, we have

125 × x 100 = 100 125 \times \dfrac {x}{100} = 100

Solving for x x yields x = 80 x=80 .

Thus, 80% of 125 is equal to 100. In other words, there is a drop of 100 % 80 % = 20 % 100\% - 80\% = 20\% .

Hence, for the same unit of measurement, wheat is 20% cheaper than rice.

Let the price of wheat be x, then the price of rice will be x + 0.25x=1.25x. Price of wheat as % of price of rice: (1.25x-0.25x)/1.25x) x 100%= 0.25/1.25=1/5=20% Thus wheat is 20% cheaper than rice.

1/1.25=.80

1-.80=.20 or 20%

It is simple maths Taking to percentages, we know that wheat is 100 so 25% of 100= 25, so for rice, 100+25= 125. So 100/125 x100 (for percentage) gives you 80. subtracting this 80 from the 100 of wheat gives u 20.. Another way is dividing the 25 you get by 125 and multiplying it by hundred. (To get percentage) 25/125=2.0 x100= 20...
