If you think about it, for me to be at the same level as you, the distance between us must be 0. So, no matter which way you look at it 0 x 2 will always equal 0.

Yeah but the problem says the distance between them halves which in one way means that the distance is reducing and can be zero, don't you think this is misleading?

No, good question. It is not misleading, but the point of the riddle. No matter how much you halve something, it will never be 0. Do you understand?
