There are some pizzas and some cute children , if one child eat one pizza one pizza will remain and one child eat two pizza one child will not get pizza. Then think there are how many pizzas and how many children???

Let P be the number of pizza
Let C be the number of children

First equation
P - C = 1
since 1 pizza per child

Second equation
C - P/2 = 1
you divide the number of pizza by 2 to get the number of children who can eat

Two equations two unknowns

Then solve :)
