Placing squares on a grid - Part 1

On a 3 by 3 grid, 4 2 by 2 squares were placed. In what order were they placed?

If you think the order is 1, 2, 3, 4, then type your answer as 1234.
The first square should would be the bottom-most

The answer is 1243.

Nice Gif!

By placed, it should've been clear about the overlapping. Really annoyed me there.

If it doesn't overlap then why does order of placement matter? Please clarify what you understood it to mean.

Hm, how would you suggest that I rephrase this question so as to make it clearer?

Question seems to be improper, should have mentioned the the positions of the 2x2 squares :)

With the constraint of the 3 × \times 3 grid, there are only 4 different places you can fill in a 2 × \times 2 square.
