Lets say I gave you a sack of potatoes, weighing altogether a hundred pounds, and told you that the potatoes consist of 99% water.

Now you decide to leave the potatoes outside to dry overnight, and wake up in the morning and discover that they are now 98% water.

Question: How much do the potatoes weigh now?

The 1 lb of original material in the potato is still intact. So, the 1 lb divided by the new weight, x , must equal 2% since 98% is water.. 1/X=2/100. X= 50
