ı 4 < 3 + ı 3 1 < 3 ı \imath^4<3+\imath^3\Leftrightarrow 1<3-\imath and this expression doesn't make sense because ı -\imath is not a real number so we cannot "compare it" with a real number by using the symbol < < .
