Three people A , B A,B and C C whose probabilities of speaking truth are 1 2 , 2 3 \frac12,\frac23 and 3 4 \frac34 , respectively, assert that a ball drawn from the bag is white. What is the probability of truth of their assertion?

96 97 \frac{96}{97} 6 7 \frac{6}{7} 24 25 \frac{24}{25} 1 20 \frac{1}{20}

P(white drawn & reported | white reported)
= {(1/5)[(1/2)(1/1)][(2/3)(1/1)][(3/4)(1/1)]} / {(1/5)[(1/2)(1/1)][(2/3)(1/1)][(3/4)(1/1)] +
(4/5)[(1/2)(1/4)][(1/3)(1/4)][(1/4)(1/4)]}
= { 1 / 20 } / { 1 / 20 + 1 / 1920 }
= 96 / 97
