Two balls of equal mass and velocities are projected. One is projected vertically upwards and the other is thrown at angle of 60 degrees with the vertical. The ratio of their potential energy at the highest point is?

3:2 4:3 4:1 2:1

The highest point h for the first ball is v^2/2g where v is the initial velocity. So its potential energy at this point is m g v^2/2g. On the other hand the vertical initial velocity for the second ball is: v cos(60)=v/2 and that gives a highest point h=v^2/8g and a potential energy at this point m g v^2/8g.

You should probably mention that both of the balls are thrown with equal velocities. I assumed this piece of info as nothing was given.

Cheers!:)
