A single diode rectifier is shown here, if we graph the voltage across the diode, what would this voltage look like?

If we consider the polarization is forward there will be a negligible voltage drop on the diode and a positive voltage drop on the load; if the polarization is reversed, there is no current on the load, so all the voltage is on the diode. Graph B represents this behavior while graph C represents the voltage on the load.
