We could divide the triangle into 2 right-angled triangles. The base of each triangle would be ( 10 c m ) 2 ( 6 c m ) 2 = 8 c m \sqrt{(10cm)^2 - (6cm)^2} = 8cm So we found the height of the big triangle and plug in the values. 1 2 ( 8 c m × 12 c m ) = 48 c m 2 \dfrac{1}{2}(8cm \times 12cm) = 48cm^2 .
