Coefficient of variation eliminates the problem related to units. If two different data have different units, all other methods would required conversion of unit except this one. It is ratio of standard deviation to mean, hence it has no units.

I know this cannot be considered as a solution .

I remember having read somewhere that a distribution having smaller Coefficient of Variation has a value closer to the central value or it's variability is lesser around the central value as compared to a distribution having a higher CV.

Sir , I don't know how to co-relate it to a series . Also what are you referring to by a series ?
