SOH-CAH-TOA \text{SOH-CAH-TOA}

cos 60 = A D 12 \cos 60=\dfrac{AD}{12}

A D = 12 cos 60 = AD=12 \cos 60 = 6 \boxed{6}

Angle C=30, Angle ABC = 90, So, Angle A = 60,

In Triangle ABD, (AD/AB) = cos A = cos 60 = (1/2).

Therefore, AD = (1/2)AB = (1/2)(12) = 6 is the answer.(Choice A)
