Solve the proportion: 1 mi 4 min = x 1 hr = x 60 min \dfrac{1\text{ mi}}{4\text{ min}}=\dfrac{x}{1\text{ hr}}=\dfrac{x}{60\text{ min}}

x = 15 mi x=\boxed{15}\text{ mi}

oh i did a foolish thing, my answer was 1/15.

In 4 minutes 1 mile is covered.

Therefore in 1 minute 1/4 mile is covered

and since 1 hour = 60 minutes, 1/4X60= 15 mile are covered in 1 hour

Hey yo,

as stated speed = mile / 4 mins , we know that 1 hour = 60 mins,

1 min = 1 / 60 hour,

speed = 1 mile / [4[(1 / 60 hour )] = 1 mile / (4 /60) hour = ( 60 / 4 )mph = 15 mph,
