If the statement "I am a knave" is a true statement about the islander, then it is NOT come from a knave. If the statement "I am a knave" is a false statement about the islander, then it is NOT come from a knight. Hence the islander is neither a knave nor a knight.

Knights can NEVER, and I repeat, NEVER lie and say that they’re knaves.

Knaves also can NEVER, and I repeat, NEVER tell the truth and admit that they are knaves.

This means that the islander is really a joker!
