You are given that the numbers 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 1,2,3,4 and 5 5 are to be filled in the square boxes as shown above (without repetition).

By obeying the order of operations (BODMAS), find the maximum possible value of the resultant number. Give your answer to 3 decimal places.

The solution posted by the author is wrong! I could have 5+4-2*1/3=8.333

In future, if you spot any errors with a problem, you can “report” it by selecting "report problem" in the “dot dot dot” menu in the lower right corner. This will notify the problem creator who can fix the issues.
