Area of shaded region = area of smallest circle + 1/2 * (area of annular ring between largest circle and middle circle)

A = π 1 2 + π 2 ( 6 2 2 2 ) = 17 π A = \pi1^2 + \frac{\pi}{2}\left(6^2 -2^2\right) = \boxed{17\pi}
