Crossing the platform includes the train length.

Hence if x is the length of platform then x + 240 is the total distance traveled by the train while crossing the platform.

Speed of train is 72 km/hr = 72000/3600 m/s = 20 m/s .

So total distance traveled by train in 20 seconds = 20 \times 20 meters = 400 meters.

That means x + 240 = 400 .

x = 400 - 240 = 160 meters which is the length of the platform.

(72*1000/3600)m/s=(240+x)/20 x=160

We knw that, speed =dist/time

So speed is 20 m /s n distance is 240+x... Where 240 is train length n x is the length of platform... Time is 20 sec...get the ans ..
