Raoult's Law

Chemistry Level 2

What are the partial pressures of benzene and toluene in a solution in which the mole fraction of benzene is 0.6? What is the total vapor pressure? The vapor pressure of pure benzene is 95.1 mmHg and the vapor pressure of pure toluene 28.4 mmHg at 2 5 C . 25^\circ\text{C}.

28.4 mmHg 50.5 mmHg 68.5 mmHg 128.5 mmHg

According to Rault's Law,

P A = P A o x A P_{A}= P_{A}^{o} x_{A} and P B = P B o x B P_{B}=P_{B}^{o} x_{B} .

Adding both we get the answer.
