Look at the following equations

3 x = 3x= y 2 \frac{y}{2}

4 x = 5 z 4x=5z

When y : z y:z is expressed as a ratio, it simplifies to a : b a:b

Assuming the ratio a : b a:b is in its simplest form find a + b a+b


The answer is 17.

3x = y/2
4x = 5z

12x = 2y = 15z
y : z = 15 : 2
Answer = 15 + 2 = 17
