There are two numbers a a and b b ,the smallest prime divisor of a a is 3 3 and that of b b is 7 7 .What is the smallest prime divisor of a + b a+b ?This problem is from my class 1 0 t h 10^{th} RD SHARMA book.

See we have that a a and b b are both odd numbers because it is given that smallest prime divisor of both numbers are odd and only even prime is 2. Now we know o d d + o d d = e v e n odd+odd=even

Hence smallest prime divisor is 2 \boxed2

Why was this even 10 points? xD xD
