The frictional force on the book will act towards left , but the frictional force on the table will act towards right (frictional force opposes relative motion between two surfaces).

Relatively, it is as thought that the table is moving instead of the book; since the book moves to the left relatively, the friction acts on it is to the right. Action and reaction! "Read carefully" has given a hint or precaution.
