Lisa and Bart are reading the book Brilliant Mathematics. At a certain moment the following conversation was given:

  • Lisa said: "I still need to read 40% of the book."
  • Bart replied: "Then I have read half of what you have read."

If Lisa has 40% left, that means that she has read 60% already. If Bart has read half of what Lisa has read, that means that he has read 60 2 \frac{60}{2} %, or 30%. To calculate remaining percentage, we simply subtract 30% from 100% to get 70% .

Lisa needs to read 40%, so 60% is read, so Bart has read 30%, and needs to read 70%.
