The unit digit of the power of a number repeats every 4 powers. e.g. 2 1 2 , 2 2 4 , 2 3 8 , 2 4 6 , 2 5 2...... 2^1 \rightarrow 2, 2^2 \rightarrow 4, 2^3 \rightarrow 8, 2^4 \rightarrow 6, 2^5 \rightarrow 2 ...... Since 29 divided by 4 has a remainder of 1, it means that 8 2 9 8^29 has the same unit digit as 8 1 8^1 which is 8.

The pattern is that 8^(1+4x), for any integer x, the number has an 8 as it's units digit. So 29=1+4x and x=7. Since x is a integer, the number has an 8 in its units digit.
