The flag of a newly formed forum is in the form of 3 blocks, each to be coloured differently. If there are 6 different colours on the whole to choose from, how many such designs are possible?

3 solutions

Since, in the beginning we have 6 colours, so there are six ways of choosing a colour.

Then, having chosen one colour, we are left with 5 colours to choose the second colour(as all the colours have to be distinct.

Proceeding similarly, we have 4 colours for the third block.

The no. of ways required is:

                                   6 * 5 * 4 = 120.

since there are six(6) ways to fill the 1ST block five(5) ways to fill the 2nd block and four(4) ways to fill the 3rd block so the combination is= 6 * 5* 4= 120
