Pedro gives Peter and Pete $7 in exchange for (4+3)/3 loaves of bread. This means that 1 loaf of bread = 7/(7/3) dollars = $3. Since Peter originally had 4 loaves, that means that it was worth 4 x 3 = $12. He then consumes 7/3 loaves for himself which is equivalent to $7. Therefore, Peter has $12-$7 = $5. If Peter has $5 then Pete must have $7-$5 = $2.
