Recollect the past 2!

A Projectile takes off with an initial velocity of 10 m/sec at an angle of elevation of 45 degrees. It is just able to clear two hurdles of height 2 m each , separated from each other by a distance d. Let x denote the distance between point of projection and first hurdle.

Calculate x+d .

Details And Assumptions

Firstly calculate x and d upto 2 decimal places and then enter there sum upto 2 decimal places for ensuring correct answer.

Take g = 10 m/sec^2

No need to solve to 2 decimal places for each as x = 5 5 x = 5 - \sqrt {5} and d = 2 5 d = 2\sqrt {5}

x + d = 5 + 5 = 7.23 x + d = 5 + \sqrt {5} = \boxed {7.23}

Ohh didn't noticed it! +1

We have to find x and d normally na ?? or any shortcut method ? i have used trajectory equation in range form and normal range formula to find x and d .

Yep , normally only ( I guess)

2x + d = Range

2 = f (x) , where f is the trajectory eq in terms of x .
