One face of a prism is polished so that it behaves as a reflecting surface. A light ray incident on face AB of the prism retraces its its path after being reflected from the surface BC. If the angle of prism is 30 degrees and refractive index is the square root of 2 then find out the angle of incidence

its all about reflection and refraction laws
since the ray retraces its its path from the plane mirror the angle of incidence at the plane mirror will be 90 degrees
after applying triangle sum properties to the triangle(which contains the 90 degrees) you will get the angle of refraction as 30 degrees(remember that the angle of refraction is measured from the normal)
After applying Snell's Law, you get the angle of incidence as 45 degrees
