Let us say that the number is'n'.As per the question n=56(quotient)+ 29.Divide both sides by 8.You will get 7(quotient)+29/8.Now 29 can be written as 24+5.24 is divisible by 8.

Since 56=8*7, 8 divides the number 7 times as much as 56.. The remainder - 29=5(mod8)

simplest explanation:

Let us suppose the number is 85(56+29)

85÷8 is 10 & 5 remainder

Same goes with 141 and many other numbers which follow this condition

N = 56 Q + 29

N = 56 Q + 24 + 5

N = [56 Q + 24 ] + 5

N = 8 [ 7 Q + 3 ] + 5

Any Number which when divided by p,q or r leaves respective reminders of s,t and u then.........(p-s)=(q-t)=(r-u) . so, (56-29)=(8-X) => X=-19(negative reminder)........... To get positive reminder , X=8K+(-19) Where K=an integer such that 'X' will be positive...........hence X=8*3-19=5 thats why reminder X=5 :)
