a = 0.5 , ( 2 a ) 2 + 7 a 2 = 1 + 1.75 = 2.75 a = 0.5, (2a)^{2} + 7a^2 = 1 + 1.75 = \boxed { 2.75 } .

Square the first term will give us 4a^2 ,then add with 7a^2 will result 11a^2 ,and the value of a^2 is .25 , so final ans is 11×0.250=2.750

(2a) = 2 x 0.5 = 1
1^2 = 1 x 1 = 1
a^2 = 0.5 x 0.5 = 0.25
7 x 0.25 = 1.75
1 + 1.75 = 2.75
(2a)^2 + 7(a^2) = 2.75
