Let A B C D A ABCDA be the wire of resistance 10 10 Ω \Omega . We have to calculate the resistance between, say A A and C C . The wires A D C ADC and A B C ABC will have resistances 5 5 Ω \Omega each.

These two are joined in parallel between A A and C C .

Therefore, R = R = 5 × 5 5 + 5 \frac{5 \times 5}{5 + 5} = = 2.5 2.5 Ω \Omega
