money spent by 8 people= 8x12=$96 money spent by ninth= 8+96=$104 so total money= 96+104=$200

$200 why because 8 people spent $12 each. You multiply 8 x 12 = 96. If the 9th person spent $8 more than the total of all of them, you add 8 to 96 which equals 104. Then you add 96 to 104 which equals $200.

Money spent by 8 each = 12

Total money spent by 8=96

Now taking total money spent by them as- x

=x=96 + (x/9 +8)

=x=[9(96)+x+72]/9

=8x=9(96)+72

=x=9(96)/8 +72/8

x=108+9

x=117

There needs to be a correction in the question. You have written "8 more than the total money spent by all of them." It should be "8 more than the average money spent by all of them."

I prefer to keep the question in the form that you originally posted, so that it is not confusing to others. I've reverted the edit to your question.

You can post the new version as a separate question.
