The pattern of the series follows as... we add and subtract 10% of a term to obtain the next term of the series 10000+(10% of 10000)=11000 ; 11000-(10% of 11000)=9900; 9900+(10% of 9900)=10890; 10890-(10% of 10890)=9801; Finally 9801+(10% of 9801)= 10781 \boxed{10781}

It actually should be 10781.1 10781.1 since 9801 1.1 = 10781.1 9801 \cdot 1.1=10781.1 . It should have specified for the solvers to round to the nearest whole number or something like that.
