Its a simple fact when the earth rotates about it's own axis the places at the poles will have to cover less distance...than tht the region at the equator has to cover in the same time obviously...thus the places at the poles have a less velocity than tht at the lands at d equator...and this can be proved by a simple circular motion formula...v=wr.....w is the angular velocity.....r is the distance from the imaginary axis of the earth....to the surface of the earth...we surely can lauch the rockets from the pole...but we'll have to supply a high velocity to the rocket so tht it can reach over the escape velocity of the earth.....which means supplying high energy....which might also lead to fatal accidents....or blasts.

I'm not questioning your knowledge. But, i reasoned my answer on the basis that at the equator, the distance from the center of the Earth will be more, and thus, the gravitational pull of the Earth will be less and it will thus, be easier for the rocket to take off, encountering less gravity and requiring lesser potential energy...Please tell me...if i am right!:)

My knowledged friend abhineet the sphere is a close approximation of the true figure of the Earth and satisfactory for many purposes, geodesists have developed a number of models to represent a closer approximation to the shape of the Earth.....this concludes that earth is a spherical body...assumed by humans...n as the centre of mass is exactly at the geometrical centre.of the earth.....its distance from the surface of the earth remains fixed throughout....thus each point...on earth has the same gravitational pull....thus this is not a valid reason to the question asked according to me....if u have any valid points against this i would appreciate it....ur free to tell.....me..n if we dont consider the earth to be spherical....then also there isnt much difference in gravitational pull. :)

But why "must"? It can still be launched from other parts right?

Perhaps, you can rephrase the question to be "Where would it be easiest to launch a rocket?", or something similar.
