Rotational Disks

Assume there are 2 identical disks with angular velocity of "W" and "O" respectively. The disks are then combined into one disk. What will be the angular velocity "L" ?

2W+2O W +O ×1/2 W+O 2WO

The moment of inertia of both disk is the same :"I" Angular momentum of each disk =I×O & I×W Disks are combined into one, therefore the moment of inertia is equal to 2I.Angular momentum is conserved therfore: I×W+I×O = 2I×L W+O/2=L
